OUR ORIGIN

Hineamaru, the ancestress of Ngati Hine planted the tukau at Paparata where it flourished. In her wisdom, she knew that the soils were highly fertile and that the whenua would sustain her people. The legacy for descendants is that Hineamaru was a strategic leader, and therefore within us is the knowledge and values to sustain ourselves and to lead fulfilling lives. We reflect on our tupuna legacies today to inspire us and guide us in the work that Tukau Law does. Promoting rangatiratanga (self-determination) and tikanga (values) we seek to empower people in all that we do.
